I know, I know.  I haven’t been writing a whole lot on here.  It usually stems from having nothing to write or been too busy with stuff.  And in this case it’s both.

But now I have something to write about and some people know this and I’m about to tell everyone else.  Ahem …

I’m going to be a dad.  It’s going to be exciting and exhausting at the same time.  Stacey is 8 weeks and I’ve had to step up and do a lot more around the house.  We were able to finish putting in a new foundation for the garden shed before the pregnancy and that freed up a lot of time for me.  Now that I have something to write about I can’t wait to share my thoughts.

I wanted to share my personal experiences that I have with the golf course Victoria Park Golf Club West.  The reason that I write this is that I worked on the grounds crew at this course for three years and at the end of this year Vic West (as it’s known to the local community) will be closed and opening a new course Victoria Park Valley in the new year.

I’ve played my last round of golf at Vic West with my brother and as I was playing so many memories started to come back to me.  Memories about golfers, stuff I had done while working at Vic West and stuff that my co-workers had done while working here.  So when I found out that Vic West was having an open house celebration a week ago, I could not pass on this opportunity to take my girlfriend to this wonderful golf course.  We played just the front nine, but it didn’t matter to me as most of my memories come from this part of the golf course.   Even though Stacey isn’t much of a golfer we were able to have fun and at the same time I could share with her some of those memories.

After we had arrived at Vic West I ran into a high-school friend that had worked at Vic West before I started and enjoyed a brief conversation before he had to leave.  After our round we were able to go into the clubhouse and of course there were people there that I recognized right away.  There were people I wished were there so that I could catch up with them.  Overall it was an excellent day and the weather decided to co-operate.

As Vic West was a popular golf course locally, I’ll miss it.  But with Vic Valley opening next year I can’t wait to play this golf course and create new memories.  To the DeCorso family who own and operate Vic West I say thank you for not only the memories but the opportunity to work there and to get to know everyone who worked there.  I also say thank you to putting on an excellent open house and the free greens’s fee that day definitely helped my wallet.

A small raccoon approached our campfire tonight. Now Stacey is on raccoon watch hoping it comes back as she went and got her flashlight and that my mother-in-law will definitely be in the trailer. She jumped out of her chair when she saw the raccoon

As some of you may know, it’s my birthday today. My mom is on a wonderful trip to Europe but would not be home for my birthday.

So I’m posting pictures just to show my appreciation for her gift to me.
